Firefighters from Lynn, Saugus and Swampscott responded to two vehicle fires at 109 and 111 Chestnut Street in Lynn around 1:21 p.m. on Friday, March 31, Lynn Fire said on Facebook.
Upon arrival, crews found the cars fully engulfed in flames. The cars were reportedly parked between the homes and eventually spread to the attic of each structure, Lynn Fire said.
All residents living inside both homes made it out safely and no injuries, the department said. However, both buildings were severely damaged and deemed uninhabitable. This resulted in 10 people being displaced, Lynn Fire added.
Among those displaced were the Son and Em family, according to a GoFundMe campaign. The family of nine lost their home in the fire and were "unable to salvage most of their belongings."
"They have been in this home for over 20 years and will be facing a long and difficult road to recovery," the GoFundMe reads. "We have set up this gofundme page to help them with needed expenses to get them back on their feet."
